Dear Auxiliary members:If you knit or crochet, or know someone who does, please check out the website link below, and consider making one or more scarves for the Special Olympics Winter Games in Arkansas! http://www.scarvesforspecialolympics.org/statesYou must use specific yarns in specific colors (website has all the details), but the pattern you use is completely up to you. Your scarves can be as simple or as complex as you like, so long as they meet the other requirements laid out in the guidelines. As of a month ago, the SOArkansas program had only received about 100 out of the approximately 535 scarves needed to ensure that each athlete that participates in the winter games in February receives one. Deadline for the program to receive our creations is Wednesday, January 4, 2012.Please remember to record your hours and how much money you spent if you make any scarves for this program, and include this info next spring in your unit's annual report -- and don't forget to take pictures of your finished items! You can send them to the official website for the 2012 photo gallery, and/or post them on the Scarves for Special Olympics Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Scarves-For-Special-Olympics/311814935551If you don't knit or crochet, please try to support the Special Olympics in other ways ... they are always in need of volunteers for local events, and would never turn down your financial assistance! You may make a monetary donation online by visiting the Scarves for Special Olympics homepage and clicking on the "Donate Now" button.Hope you can help, one way or the other! Please share this info with everyone you know who knits or crochets .....Suzan Kaye
